Although we have several assistants, your child will always have one of our principal teachers as her main instructor. They have been tested on their knowledge of dance upon admission to the organizations listed. They participate in continuing education regularly to add new styles and fresh ideas to time-proven teaching techniques.
“Mrs. Tracy” Hannon – Owner, Director, and Teacher
“Mrs. Tracy” began dancing at the age of 2 with her aunt, Dotti Patterson. At the age of 12 she began teaching out of her mother’s kitchen until she graduated from high school. While studying dance at the University of Memphis, she performed with the U of M dance company and traveling company, Moving Line and taught ballet, tap, and jazz at Dotti’s School of Dance. In 1988, she was certified by the Southern Association of Dance Masters, and has been on the board of directors as well as the Second Vice-President. Upon graduating cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts (dance/theater major), she began teaching ballet, pointe, and modern at the Civic Dance Company in Columbus, Ga. She began dance programs for the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department, the city of Notasuga, and the Auburn City Schools. Upon returning to Memphis, she taught for Dotti’s School of Dance, and Patti Howard’s School of Dance, and choreographed for the Germantown Community Theater. In 1997 she became the owner of Patti Howard’s School of Dance, changing it’s name to The Dance Academy of Bartlett. She was the Memphis Children’s Rehearsal Director for the Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker for 10 years. She has judged for the “I Love Dance” international dance competition. She continues dancing, currently studying and competing in Ballroom dance, even winning a 2012 & 2016 National 5-dance open rhythm championship. Mrs. Tracy has taught all levels and all subjects, but currently teaches company tap classes and competition choreography.
“Ms. Amanda” O’Rourke – Teacher and Office Manager
Ms. Amanda is a former student and assistant at The Dance Academy of Bartlett. She has performed with the International Sweetheart Company in Las Vegas and Neil Goldberg’s Cirque. She was a dance major at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro as well as studying dance at the University of Memphis. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Southern Association of Dance Masters. She has an education degree from the University of Memphis. She has been teaching at The Dance Academy of Bartlett since Fall ’08 choreographing award winning dances. Ms. Amanda is also our morning office manager.
“Ms. Danielle” Pierce – Teacher
Ms. Danielle began working at The Dance Academy of Bartlett in 2012. She grew up dancing at All American Kids dance studio. She was named a member of the Arkansas State University A-Team Dance Team performing at games and events for several years. She continued her dance training at the University of Memphis studying numerous styles. She graduated in Communication and Fine Arts in 2008 majoring in Journalism and Spanish. She has taught and choreographed at New Ballet Ensemble, Millington Middle School , Ballet on Wheels and the award-winning Christie McNeil School of Dance. She has been a Red Hots Dancer with the Memphis Red Birds and choreographs for them as well. She is also a member of the Southern Association of Dance Masters. At DAB, she teaches company jazz classes as well as combo classes for all ages.
“Ms. Anwen” David – Ballet teacher
Ms. Anwen has been dancing with Ballet Memphis since 2013 performing such roles as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and Clara in The Nutcracker. Her repertoire includes Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peter Pan, and numerous contemporary ballets. She has performed with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and San Francisco Ballet. She was a guest artist with Texture Contemporary Ballet as well. She is excited to join the DAB family and lead our company dancers on their ballet education journey.
“Mrs. Kim” Jenkins – Tumbling and Dance teacher
Kim is a DAB alum. She was an assistant here for four years, including working with our tumbling classes. She studied gymnastics for 6 years when growing up. She was a dance major at Columbia College (SC), where she trained in acro-dance and taught college students acro to prepare them for SYTYCD auditions. She is a member of SADM and CNADM. Kim teaches our Tumbling and Acro classes, combo classes and choreographs some competition pieces.
