Company & Competition

We have four levels of company classes, divided by age, experience, and ability. These groups are considered “company” because they are included in all extra activities and offered many additional options. All members are expected to participate in certain activities. Knowing some students will be more dedicated than others, we offer many additional options over and above the required classes so that you can have a tailor-made commitment. Age ranges are approximate (see descriptions below), and we occasionally move a younger student into a level, or keep an older student in a level, if their ability deems this necessary. Difficult steps, complicated combinations, quicker learning, body toning, and increasing personal responsibility is developed in these classes.

Every three summers, we take our company on a summer trip to perform shows for the greater public. Usually, this is on a cruise ship (during Covid we opened for a few Branson shows). Choreography is taught at a very fast pace in a short amount of time to give students a taste of professional dance life. Families accompany their dancers.

Every three Decembers (halfway between summer trips), we take our Junior and Senior Company dancers to New York City with teacher chaperones. They take classes, watch Broadway shows and visit tourist sites. It is a very inspirational experience.

The Senior Company (advanced level, ages approximately 14-19) is required to take ballet, jazz, contemporary and tap weekly totaling 3.75 hours minimum. Pointe, Hip Hop, Acro and a rotational variety class are also available. The Senior Company will attend two competitions. They have the option of adding Production rehearsals, additional competition groups (3 max) and private choreography (solos, duets, trios) in order to compete more if they choose. The Senior Company is prepared to enter a college level dance program upon high school graduation if desired and encouraged to further their dance education rather than attempt professional work immediately.

Mini Competition Groups

Mini Competition Groups (for younger dancers) – offered to dancers in Levels 3-PreCompany with at least one year of experience. An audition is held to choose young dancers that are ready for more. Not only is skill level evaluated but dedication, self-discipline, good attendance and interest are considered. Three levels are available. The lower two levels will attend rehearsals 30 min weekly while the more advanced group will attend 45 min rehearsals. All three will learn one piece of choreography to compete at three competitions plus a preview show. All dancers are required to also attend a regular combo classes. These dancers may choose to add private choreography (solos, duets, trios) after one year of participation in a competition group.
